I don’ t think we need to stomp our feet, or God forbid, shout “Hurray.” What we need to do is recognize it, accept it, and decide what we want to do about it.
I was realizing just the other day, that, like Camelot, nothing stays in the “rose-colored, happy zone” forever. It’s just not possible, because people get sick, kids grow up and move away, problems crop up, and suddenly, or not suddenly at all, everything changes — and we are left alone. It’s uncannily like what happens when a popular television series starts out great, generates millions of fans, and then goes off into the weeds, leaving viewers wondering, “huh?” Nothing great lasts forever — but that’s only because they change. And they’re meant to change. So, to be psychologically healthy, we need to learn to adapt.
