Thanks, Isabelle. I loved him and always thought I’d rather be married to him than any other friends’ spouses I knew. He was a brilliant conversationalist and a great father. Good provider. But he completely ignored me most of the time, made it very clear that he didn’t love me, and never had my back on anything. After thirty years, I found myself really wanting to be loved. Still hoping, but I feel more at peace on my own, no longer wanting something that wasn’t possible in my marriage. He’s happily remarried and treats her like a princess. Oh, well. They say second marriages are usually better.
